At the beginning of his Daily Meditation for today Father Richard Rohr writes the following:

Most of us were taught that God would love us if and when we change.  In fact, God loves you so that you can change.  What empowers change, what makes you desirous of change, is the experience of love.  It is that inherent experience of love that becomes the engine of change. Karl Barth also understood that it is all about God.  Barth observed that many people think that if they ask God their questions that God will provide answers – an order that Barth found to be completely inaccurate.  Barth said that God reveals information which in turn provokes our human questions.  It all begins with God!  It all begins with God!!
